Approximate Schedule.
You can arrive at any time on the night. Early birds meet in the Drawing Room Bar (on the right as you enter) for a drink and chat well before the Class starts in the Ballroom, while others are still rolling in at 7.30pm: it's all pretty laid back, welcoming and relaxed. Just be here for 6.45 if it's your first time :)
The first week of each month will feature our Stroll Class add-on. A 15 minute Stroll lesson running from 8.15pm before the Record Hop.
6.45 - 7.30 Beginners, Refresher, Coaching and Social.
A 'must do' for Absolute Beginners and perfect for those that have danced before but are wanting a refresher. Dave is on hand to help complete Beginners take their first steps into Jive, and to offer assistance as required. This part of the night is great for people who have already done a Beginners Course* with us and want to work on their basic and core techniques before the Improvers/Intermediates Class.
It's also a great time to relax, chat, have a drink while watching vintage TV or have a warm up dance :)
You don't need to pay anything extra to stay for the main Class and dancing afterwards.
Personal coaching is also available during this time.
* Beginners Courses include our 6 Week Jive Introductions and Beginners Boot Camp events.
7.30 - 8.30 Improvers and Intermediates Class
Start with a warm up and then learn some moves and techniques rolled into a routine. The Class includes a mix of demonstration, instruction and coaching from the Want2jive team, finishing with a recap on the Class.
On the first week of the month, this will run until 8.15pm followed by a 15 minute stroll Class.
8.30 Social dancing/Record Hop
Dim the lights (slightly) and turn up the volume as we play a mixture of Jivers, Strollers and Boppers of varied genres and speeds to suit all abilities.
It's a weekly record hop!
On the first week of the month, Social dancing will start at 9pm.
10.00 It's a school night! Go Home!
* Sometimes we stay later and we may extend this to 10.30 in the future. Let us know if you're interested!

If you already know 1950s Jive and can consistently Lead or Follow medium speed music then join us for the Improvers/Intermediates class. The key element will be building your repertoire of moves as well as introducing variations of the moves you already know that will allow you to dance to faster and slower songs effectively. That in turn will lead into techniques to cover the styling for different music genres.
On some weeks we'll also look at different ways of starting and ending your routine to fit with the song you're dancing to as we introduce live choreography.
Unlike our Courses which run progressive training over a set number of weeks, each Improvers/Intermediate Class is self contained and doesn't rely on you having been on the previous weeks.
Classes may contain a specific theme like Choreography or Finishing. Where possible, we'll announce any of these special activities for an evening in advance. Please Note
Once you've been to one of our Classes or Courses, you'll also get access to a selection of online training videos :) -
